Introduction
SUPERON Ag 49Hi (MnNi) is a versatile, general-purpose silver brazing alloy with excellent mechanical properties. Its formulation of 49% silver, 16% copper, 23% zinc, 4.5% nickel, and 7.5% manganese enhances strength and durability. The presence of nickel improves wetting on carbides, while manganese refines flow behavior, resulting in a less free-flowing alloy that forms thicker joints capable of handling higher stresses. With an operating temperature of 690°C and a shear strength of 250–300 MPa, it conforms to international standards Ag502, Ag18, BAg-22, and L-Ag49. This alloy is ideal for applications requiring robust, stress-resistant joints in demanding conditions.
Applications
Manganese addition improves wetting on difficult carbides containing titanium and tantalum, which are typically challenging to wet under
standard brazing conditions.
